Refund & RetuRefund & Return Policy

At My E-book Shop, customer satisfaction is important to us. This Refund & Return Policy explains your rights and our obligations regarding the purchase of digital products. It is governed by the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 (CPA) and other applicable laws of the Republic of South Africa.

Because our products are delivered digitally and are accessible immediately after purchase, different refund rules apply than those for physical goods.

1. Digital Products

All products sold by My E-book Shop are digital products, including e-books and other downloadable electronic content.

No physical products are shipped.

Once payment has been successfully completed, customers receive immediate access to their purchased digital products through download or online access, depending on the product.

2. Refund Eligibility

Due to the nature of digital products, refunds are generally not available once a product has been downloaded, accessed, or delivered electronically.

However, refunds or other appropriate remedies may be provided where required by the Consumer Protection Act or other applicable laws.

3. Your Consumer Rights

Under the Consumer Protection Act, you are entitled to receive digital products that:

  • Are of good quality.
  • Match the description provided on our website.
  • Are reasonably suitable for their intended purpose.
  • Can be accessed or downloaded as described.

If a purchased product is defective, corrupted, incomplete, inaccessible due to our error, or materially different from its description, you may be entitled to an appropriate remedy.

4. Available Remedies

Where a valid issue is confirmed, My E-book Shop may, in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act:

  • Provide a corrected version of the digital product.
  • Replace the product with a working copy.
  • Restore access to the purchased product.
  • Issue a full or partial refund where the issue cannot reasonably be resolved.

The appropriate remedy will depend on the nature of the problem and the requirements of applicable law.

5. Reporting a Problem

If you experience a problem with your purchase, please contact us as soon as possible.

To help us investigate your request, please provide:

  • Your order number or proof of purchase.
  • The email address used during the purchase.
  • A description of the issue.
  • Screenshots or error messages where applicable.

We recommend reporting any issues within 7 days of purchase to help us resolve the matter promptly.

6. Refunds Will Not Normally Be Granted If

Refund requests based solely on the following circumstances will generally not qualify:

  • You changed your mind after purchasing.
  • You accidentally purchased the wrong e-book.
  • You no longer require the product.
  • You failed to read the product description before purchasing.
  • Your device, software, internet connection, or storage limitations prevent proper use of the product.
  • The product functions as described and is free from defects.

Nothing in this section limits your statutory rights under South African law.

7. Processing Approved Refunds

Where a refund is approved, it will be processed using the original payment method wherever possible.

Depending on your payment provider or financial institution, refunds may take approximately 5 to 10 business days to appear in your account.

8. Chargebacks

If you experience any problems with your purchase, we encourage you to contact us before initiating a chargeback through your payment provider.

We are committed to resolving genuine issues fairly, quickly, and in accordance with applicable consumer protection laws.

We may update this Refund & Return Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our products, services, business practices, or legal obligations.
