Vendor Code of Conduct
E-Book Shop Marketplace
This Vendor Code of Conduct (“Code”) outlines the standards of behaviour and professional responsibility expected of all vendors selling digital products on the E-Book Shop Marketplace. By registering as a vendor, you agree to comply with this Code in addition to all other platform policies.
1. Professional Conduct
Vendors must act honestly, professionally, and ethically at all times. All interactions with customers, E-Book Shop staff, and other vendors must be respectful, transparent, and in good faith.
2. Accurate Product Representation
Vendors are required to:
- Provide clear, truthful, and complete product descriptions
- Accurately represent features, functionality, and intended use
- Avoid misleading claims, false guarantees, or exaggerated results
Products must perform as described and be fit for their intended purpose.
3. Intellectual Property Compliance
Vendors must:
- Sell only content they own or are legally authorised to distribute
- Respect the intellectual property rights of others
- Avoid uploading copyrighted, plagiarised, or pirated material
Any infringement may result in immediate content removal and account termination.
4. Customer Support & Communication
Vendors must:
- Respond to customer inquiries promptly and professionally
- Provide reasonable technical support for digital products
- Handle complaints fairly and in compliance with CPA requirements
Failure to support customers may affect vendor status.
5. Data Protection & POPIA Compliance
Vendors must:
- Protect customer personal information
- Use customer data only for order fulfilment and support
- Refrain from sharing or selling customer data
- Comply fully with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
Unauthorised use of personal information is strictly prohibited.
6. Pricing & Fair Trading
Vendors must:
- Set fair, transparent prices
- Honour listed prices and promotions
- Avoid deceptive pricing practices
All sales must comply with South African consumer protection laws.
7. Prohibited Activities
Vendors may not:
- Engage in fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading practices
- Upload harmful software, malware, or corrupted files
- Spam customers or misuse messaging tools
- Attempt to bypass platform fees or payment systems
8. Compliance with Laws
Vendors must comply with:
- South African laws and regulations
- Consumer Protection Act (CPA)
- Copyright Act of South Africa
- POPIA and related data protection regulations
9. Platform Integrity
Vendors must not:
- Manipulate reviews or ratings
- Interfere with platform operations
- Attempt unauthorised access to systems or data
10. Enforcement & Consequences
Violations of this Code may result in:
- Warnings or temporary suspension
- Removal of products or content
- Permanent account termination
- Forfeiture of earnings
- Legal action where necessary
E-Book Shop reserves the right to enforce this Code at its discretion.
11. Amendments
E-Book Shop may update this Vendor Code of Conduct at any time. Continued participation in the marketplace constitutes acceptance of the updated Code
